The 2025 GMC Sierra HD is a heavy-duty truck perfect for commercial and ranch work. Various engine options and different cab and bed configurations make it easy to customize it to suit all needs and budgets.
Introducing the 2025 GMC Sierra HD
The Sierra HD is the toughest truck in the GMC lineup and is available in two different models. The Sierra 2500 HD offers robust towing and payload capacities, making it suitable for a wide range of commercial and personal heavy-duty applications. The Sierra 3500 HD offers ultimate strength and higher towing and payload capacities, but it is also heavier, a feature that may make it more challenging to maneuver in demanding driving conditions.
Engines and Performance
Both the Sierra 2500 HD and the Sierra 3500 HD get power from the same engine options. Standard on most trim levels is a 6.6L V8 gas engine that churns out 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque and pairs with a 10-speed Allison automatic transmission. This powertrain is the best choice for hauling, with payload capacities of up to 4,064 lbs in the 2500 HD and 7,237 lbs in the 3500 HD models.
An available 6.6L V8 turbo-diesel engine is the perfect choice for towing. In the Sierra 2500 HD, this engine offers a maximum conventional trailering capacity of 20,000 lbs and a 5th-wheel/gooseneck capacity of up to 22,390 lbs. The Sierra 3500 HD also has a maximum conventional trailering capacity of 20,000 lbs, while 5th-wheel/gooseneck towing boosts the capacity up to 36,000 lbs, depending on configuration and trim.
Bed Options and Cargo Capacity
Designed for heavy-duty work, the Sierra HD comes standard with a long bed for a cargo volume of 83.50 cubic feet. This bed is compatible with all cab styles, so you can customize the truck to suit your passenger-carrying needs. The double and crew cabs can be had with a shorter bed with a cargo volume of 69.50 cubic feet.
Cabin Types and Comfort
This truck is available in regular, double, and crew cab styles, all of which are designed with comfort and utility in mind. The regular cab has seats for three with convenient under-seat storage and vinyl seating surfaces on the entry trim level. Other premium materials, including cloth and leather, are available on the upper models.
Both the double and the crew cabs have seats for up to six riders. The front-row bench maintains the under-seat storage, while the rear seats have a 60/40 split-folding design for added convenience. The crew cab is more spacious, offering 43.40 inches of second-row legroom. On select trims, this cab type also comes standard with seats for five.
